Price alerts

Set a one-time alert when a portfolio asset reaches or crosses a price threshold in the asset's own currency.

What it does

A price alert watches one asset already recorded in your portfolio. You choose whether it should trigger at or above a threshold, or at or below it, and enter the threshold in the asset's currency.

The alerts page lists active alerts with the asset, condition, threshold and latest recorded price. A background job compares active alerts with stored prices. When a condition is met, it sends the price-alert notification through the channels allowed by your notification settings and makes that alert inactive.

If your preferred display currency differs from the asset currency, the form can show an approximate conversion for context. The saved threshold remains in the asset currency.

What it does not do

  • It does not place an order, sell an asset or change a portfolio.
  • It does not monitor an exchange tick by tick. It compares against the latest price stored by MrMoney.ai when the check runs.
  • It does not guarantee notification delivery; delivery follows your master switch, channel choices, quiet hours and daily limit.
  • It does not automatically repeat after triggering.

Known limits

  • Price-alert notifications are off by default. Enable the PRICE_ALERT_TRIGGERED preference and a delivery channel in Settings.
  • An alert cannot trigger while the asset has no current price, and a stale stored price can delay the threshold crossing.
  • The creation dialog opened from the settings page loads assets from the first portfolio returned for your account, not a portfolio selector.
  • Alerts are one-time: create a new alert after one triggers.
  • The page supports creating and deleting alerts, but not editing an existing threshold; delete and recreate it instead.
